Contrary to its origins in 1780 Ireland, Jameson Whiskey was actually founded by Scottish-born lawyer John Jameson. The brand began as part of 6 main whiskeys produced and distilled at the Jameson Distillery located in Bow Street, Dublin Ireland. However, production of this iconic whiskey was taken over around 1966 by Irish Distillers, a subsidiary of French aperitif manufacturer Pernod Ricard; owner of renowned brands such as Chivas Regal and Absolut Vodka. Originally available by the cask only, it wasn’t until 1968 that this superior whiskey could be purchased by the bottle. Since that time, Jameson Whiskey has expanded the brand and is now sold in over 130 countries worldwide. This distinct Irish whiskey uses a unique triple-distillation process along with expertly sourced oak barrels from England, Spain, and the US in the creation and aging of all of its whiskies.

A result of a collaboration between renowned Irish whisky brand Jameson and a Cork-based craft brewery by the name of Franciscan Well, Jameson Caskmates Stout Barrel Aged Blended is richly aged Irish whiskey matured in back-and-forth barrels traded between distillery and brewery. Jameson forwarded a selection of its barrels to Wells, who used them to house and age their premium stout. Wells then sent them back to Jameson and the distiller reused these now stout-seasoned barrels to mature its new Jameson Caskmates line of whiskey! Crafted from an undisclosed mash bill containing 30% malted and 30% unmalted barley as well as other grains, Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition is NAS whiskey triple distilled in pot stills and matured for a minimum of 3 years. Originally released in 2013, this bold brew offers up aromatic notes of campfire smoke, baked sugar, and oak over a palate of caramel, cream, and butterscotch-malt candy.
