Lismore 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Lismore is a brand of Speyside single malt and blended Scotch whisky that was created in 1974 by William Lundie & Co. – aka John and Willie Lundie. Named after the island Lismore found in the Inner Hebridean region between Mull and the mainland, this prestigious brand guard the provenance of its whisky closely, replicating the original recipe to ensure the same profound quality and masterful blending is imparted with every release. Lismore itself isn’t an actual distillery, but rather independently bottled Speyside whiskies sourced from an undisclosed distillery. The Lismore brand is now owned and bottled by J & G Grant, of the world-renowned Glenfarclas distillery – and currently offers various iterations including; blended Scotch ranging in age from 5, 8, 12, 15, 18, and 21 years, and Lismore The Legend – a limited edition 21 year old single malt finished in select ex-sherry hogsheads. One of Speyside’s best-kept secrets, Lismore is a name you’ll not soon forget from the moment you take your first sip!

Nose: Muddled fruit, spice, vanilla, dark honey and an earthiness roll out of the glass followed by some lighter notes of butterscotch, malt and ambiguous sweetness. It’s inoffensive, but not complex or interesting. It just is.

Palate: The flavor comes across much darker than the aroma. Muddled overripe fruit, dark almost cloying sweetness, honey and a marshy earthy funk with a raw quality on the end. It’s only a little better than the Lismore 100 Proof.

Finish: Funk, fruit, dark sweetness, wood and ash run out slowly.
